“สีด่อน” สีกระเบื้องพระราชทานหลังคาพระอุโบสถวัดโสธร

กระเบื้องหลังคา พระอุโบสถวัดโสธรวรารามนั้น นอกจากจะมีความพิเศษที่ขนาดกระเบื้องจะใหญ่น้อยไม่เท่ากันตามระดับความสูงแล้ว สีของกระเบื้อง ยังได้เลือก “สีด่อน” ตามพระราชประสงค์ของในหลวงรัชกาลที่ 9 เป็นสีหลักของกระเบื้องหลังคาพระอุโบสถด้วย

โดยมีปรากฏในหนังสือ “บันทึกเกร็ดการการสร้างพระอุโบสถวัดโสธรฯ” ความตอนหนึ่งว่า “พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว” มีพระราชประสงค์ให้กระเบื้องหลังคาเป็น “สีด่อน” คณะทำงานก็ไม่เข้าใจว่า สีด่อนนี้คือสีอะไร จึงกราบทูลถามองค์ประธานการก่อสร้าง  ซึ่งได้รับคำตอบว่า สีด่อนเป็นภาษาอีสาน หมายถึงสีของ “ควายเผือก” คำตอบดังกล่าวก็ยังไม่กระจ่างอยู่ดี องค์ประธานจึงแนะนำว่า ให้ไปดูสีของกระเบื้องหลังคาศาลหลักเมืองกรุงเทพมหานคร พวกเราคณะทำงานจึงได้ถึงบางอ้อกันเสียที

ด้านหลังของกระเบื้องสีด่อนอันสวยงามแต่ละแผ่นนั้น คือ ลายมือชื่อ ลายเซ็น ของเหล่าผู้มีจิตศรัทธาที่ร่วมบุญ บริจาคทรัพย์เพื่อซื้อกระเบื้องหลังคาโบสถ์ ดังนั้น ขอโปรดทราบว่า ชื่อของท่านและบุคคลที่รัก ได้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการปกป้องพระพุทธรูปสำคัญที่ประดิษฐานภายในพระอุโบสถหลังนี้ นับว่า เป็น พระอุโบสถที่สร้างจากแรงศรัทธาอย่างแท้จริง

ตามบันทึกในหนังสือเกร็ดการก่อสร้างพระอุโบสถวัดโสธรฯ เล่าว่า “ทุกคนคงอยากให้กระเบื้องของตนอยู่สูงที่สุดเท่าที่จะอยู่ได้ แผ่นที่สูงที่สุดคงเป็นของท่านเจ้าอาวาส รองๆลงมาก็คงเป็นของเหล่าคณะทำงานและสาธุชนผู้มีจิตศรัทธาร่วมบุญมาทั้งหมดนั้นละครับ”
